The Origin of Feng Shui

People in this country assume that feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice. Actually, it was concocted in the summer of 1987 by three friends who were all editors at different publishing companies in New York on their vacation together in Bermuda. Each of the editors wrote books on their invented philosophy, and hired other friends to write more books. Real Chinese people who come to this country have never heard of it.

Good detective work! e've been trying to remain anonymous but have also felt great pride at the increasing popularity of our "little expierment," so we don't mind that you've let the cat out of the bag.

As a Chinese American, I am deeply offended by my American neighbor's embrace of this demeaning stereotype. To think that we would believe such nonsense like where you put your couch affects your prosperity! It's insulting.

I have little Simpson figures all over my computer and desk, and some kind of fetus in a jar -- does that ruin my feng of shui?
